Location, Location, Location- Small events may be limited in their location, often being held in a boardroom or small event space within the local area, larger events have a much wider span of options, including travel to varied and even exotic locales.
According to the Experience Institute, the destination of a large event is one of the most important factors for up to 78% of event attendees (Experience Institute). Unfortunately, the location of an event can also be the fifth largest barrier for attendance at an event. This means that it is crucial for event hosts to weigh out a number of factors when choosing the location of their event.
Choosing the proper location is, therefore, dependent upon a balance of experiences offered and cost. As a result of this, many larger events are being hosted in what is considered ‘middle-sized’ cities. These moderately priced locales offer enough space for the event but do not have the high cost commonly associated with larger or more populous areas.
Further, these areas still provide plenty of options for attendees to enjoy themselves while they are not attending the event, making the entire experience feel like a combination of work and vacation.
